Happy Tuesday! Ready or not, tomorrow is December 1st! The holidays are in full swing and how are you ready to be your best self? The condition of your environment plays a vital part in how you reach your goals, especially when it comes to your health. Clear the clutter is one of my favorite strategies to offer my clients as a first step toward a goal. It means simplifying your physical environment so that you can eliminate some stress and overwhelm which frees up energy for achieving your goals.

I suggest to my clients that they pick one spot in their home that overwhelms them on a regular basis as a starting point. A common area of the house is the kitchen, specifically the pantry. If your goal is to lose weight, it’s a good idea to get rid of foods that won’t serve you while you work hard to achieve this goal. It might be time to toss the junk food or to condense it to a much smaller space. You’ll feel relieved to throw away or give away unwanted items in order to set yourself up for success. It may mean adding new, more nutritious options to your pantry once items are neatly organized and easily accessible. We humans easily accumulate more than we need, which can feel overwhelming. It’s a good time to simplify your life by cleaning up your space.

Perhaps as you lose weight you  might have a love/hate relationship with your closet or your dresser. In that case, start with ONE spot and declutter it. It will actually inspire you to keep going once a space has been reorganized. Do you have a drawer in your house that you can hardly open? Is your car full of candy wrappers (although you can’t remember how they got there)? Look around your home and zero in on ONE space as a start. I promise that you will feel so good and light when you finish. In my closet, I have “the one in one out rule” to keep my space more organized. If I buy something new, something has to come out to be donated. Speaking of which, it’s always recommended to donate your unwanted items that are still in very good condition to those who are in need. That’s the easy part.

Does this sound like a fun way to set yourself up for less stress as you work on your health goals? Are you interested in starting with just one spot? Are you motivated to simplify your surroundings? I challenge you this week to get started! Let me know what you did and how that space feels now! You’ll be so happy with more brainpower left for more important things like improving your health! As I’ve said before, small steps lead to big changes! This is a fun way to give it a try! Careful–it can be contagious!

Happy Tuesday! Happy Thanksgiving in a few days! The holidays are under way for sure! Given what the world has been through over the last 19 months, there is still so much out of balance and so many feelings of uncertainty and confusion. It feels like we should be able to ask “Are we there yet?” and get the response, “YES!” Unfortunately, we’re all still navigating through so many challenges in addition to managing daily life. Overwhelm has become an everyday feeling for so many of us. Does this resonate with you? Are you still treading water? How does that feel? Would you like to trade that feeling for a more uplifting one?

Once again, this is where choice comes into play. We can allow ourselves to feel all doom and gloom and helpless or we can look at our lives through the lens of gratitude. Which one sounds more productive? I’m not at all suggesting that we ignore real life and it’s struggles, don’t get me wrong. What I am offering is a double dose of gratitude each day we wake up and live another day. What would happen if one of our first thoughts of the day would be gratitude for all that we have and for all that we don’t have? How would you feel to set your intention each morning by being thankful for the people in your circle? How would you feel if you looked in the mirror and smiled back at yourself being thankful for your life?

This week, I’d like to offer you the possibility of stepping back from the noise and chatter, taking a pause, and thinking about the ways that you are grateful for so many things, and then…saying them out loud! Go ahead and say it! I promise that it will feel so much better than keeping them silent! Careful…it is contagious and will feel so refreshing!

Need more guidance on your journey of better health (on the inside and out)? Contact me to set up a complimentary discovery call to see what I offer! You can’t go wrong!

Happy Tuesday! So often we forget that life is 50/50: half positive and half negative. The good, the bad, and the ugly make up our life. The refreshing idea that I want to offer is that although you don’t choose what happens to you, you DO choose how you react to it! That is a powerful mind shift. It puts the ownership onto you. No more excuses, no more hiding or dodging how you show up to manage the circumstances of life.

One step at a time, you are empowered to choose the direction when faced with a situation. Have you ever thought about it this way? Have you given yourself permission to be more positive when faced with something? Have you thought about how to handle life differently in order to get different results? One of my favorite quotes is from Albert Einstein, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” My sweet husband reminds me of this from time to time when I fall into the trap of choosing different reactions to life’s curveballs.

This week, as we get closer to Thanksgiving and the tidal wave of the holiday season and all its overwhelm, step back and notice how you react to circumstances and get curious about how you could reframe and adjust your choice of reaction. I promise you that once you notice these habits, you’ll be interested in looking at ways to make changes in your choices one step at a time! Give it a try!

I’m working with so many clients who are making this habit change and they are seeing lasting results that decrease their stress and lead to impressive healthy lifestyle changes. I’d love to work with you one on one to guide you, too! Let’s get started sooner than later!

Happy Tuesday and Happy November! Now is the time to take a serious look at your health and ask yourself two key questions: Where am I right now with my health? Where do I want to be? In coaching, we look at the present and the future without looking back too much. What’s done is done, so take the lessons and move forward!

How do your clothes fit? Do you like what you see in the mirror? Do you want to shed some weight? I can’t say it enough that NOW is the time to make some small changes that will lead to weight loss. Why wait until AFTER the holidays? Why wait until you have nothing left to wear that feels good on your body? Why wait until you hide behind everyone in pictures again this year?

JUST. GET. STARTED. How do you get started? That’s a common question that I get from my clients all of the time. I tell them that one step at a time is how it happens. I will say that you MUST be kind to yourself on this journey. Talk to yourself the way you talk to people who you love. It starts there. When you work on the inside first, the outside results then happen.

So, as you think about making some changes soon, do one thing that is new to you. You could cut your portions in half, you could not eat after dinner, you could save your dessert for one time a week (i.e. Sweet Saturday, as we used to call it in my house), you could be mindful of how much sugar and salt you actually eat, or you could drink more water. These are simple ideas to get you started. Honestly, there is no magic pill or quick fix that has lasting results. There are as many ways to eat as there are different people. You have to put in the time and effort to find what works for your body.

I challenge you this week to make this November the time to take action. Start small so that you can change habits that will change your weight and your health. Not ready to try this on your own? Reach out to me to find out how I can help you! Put yourself first!
